As a child, I was fascinated with a shapely oversized toy top that, when plunged, would spin in circles and blur the multiple stripes painted on it into a multitude of colors. It’s perhaps that single lesson early on that helped develop my sense as a stylist and designer.

I love what I do for a job! It's more like fun than it is real work. I get the opportunity every day to dream up beautiful images using amazing objects. It’s the best. I think I’ve enjoyed this type of “play” all my life, and I am blessed to have been given a vivid imagination... where I see complete pictures before they ever really exist.

I grew up in Concord, New Hampshire, and I got my start working for Mary Emmerling and her magazine MARY EMMERLING’S COUNTRY in Manhattan. That grew into many other great projects and a chance to work with the many creative and talented photographers and editors whom I had met. Each time I created something new, it advertised my work to many other people in the business. I was approached by Clarkson Potter to do a book titled GIFTS FROM NATURE, which appeared in the marketplace in the fall of 1997. Not long after, I joined COUNTRY HOME MAGAZINE as a freelance style editor. This is a job I especially love, and I am still fully engaged in. The fall of 2006 promises to be a busy time for me--- a Christmas product line with Waterford/Wedgwood will be hitting national retail stores, my own magazine filled with great holiday decorating ideas (MEREDITH CORPORATION) will be on newsstands, and I will have a fresh new book on entertaining ready for bookstores in time for the holiday season.

My imagination has served me well, as has my location.
I have a beautiful daylight studio in New Hampshire--- a world of great locations and amazing antiques and props at my disposal, and a dynamic team that can take any project, magazine, catalog, product, or editorial idea from concept to completion. Lastly, my beloved web site will soon add pod casts (both audio and video), a line of products, and great source lists so you can find everything we use easily.

I have started to do my own photography, and I am so excited about the possibilities that exist at this new level of creativity. I envision creating all types of personal photo essays on nature, travel, collecting, etc. and immersing myself in the beauty of shape, texture, and color—the top just keeps spinning.
