I’ve been collecting Turkey Red Linens for years.  I remembered once I discovered them that similar linens were used in my childhood at my Grandfather’s house at holiday time.

These rich red linens are that final festive layer that bring out the spirit of the holiday season at my home.  Its a tradtion to cover the dining and buffet table with turkey red linens.  Then we use vintage linen dish towels which I have collected from many different flea markets and shops as napkins and trivets for white ironstone plates and serving pieces.    In my work I always investigate other color ways for the holiday season but at home red and white always rule.

Dish towles in 100% linen are Irish or Belgian in origin.  The beige piece with the red and white stripe is actually from a linen press used for drying sheets.  The dealer believed it was Scandanavian.  The bright red piece on the end is traditional TURKEY RED and its color is vibrant and eye catching.  It is one of 30 different styles I have collected and I often use many of these on photo shots for curtains, bureau scarves and slip covers.

Love these! Your use of them was masterful and beautiful in the December issue of Country Home.

I have a Pie Safe that truly overflows with linens…including my very own stack of Turkey Red napkins & tablecloths. With the change of each season or holiday, I always “consult” with my linens first - to decide just what direction we may go.
