We shot these in my studio several seasons ago… just looking at them gives me a lift and some hope that with longer days and a brilliant sun that flowers will return.
I can’t say that the last month has been a picnic… and while I work for those “new doors to open” I am wrapped up in several book proposals, and some very special projects that I hope will lead to a whole new way to get style to my fans. I found the floral inspirations on a back up drive I haven’t looked at in quite some time. It holds some timeless inspiration that I thought I might share and chat about again.Â

Cookies wrap around an angel food cake and get topped with fresh berries. A pretty faux peony to top a heart box.  Color new baskets in shades of pink using latex paints. Colored sugar and cake candies make pretty candles. Beets with a heart cookie cutter bring soul to a salad. Jelly donuts become loving sentiments with confectioners’ sugar and wooden letters. Yarn makes pom pom flowers to festoon a pink wool coat. Pink meringue cookies get a lift from dark chocolate. A mass of collected glass can be gathered and called into service at a moments notice for any February need.

Those images are just what my winter-weary eyes needed. So beautiful, as always, Matthew. Love that cake, those pink Nantucket baskets, and those pink meringue cookies! More please….

Beautiful images–the beets made me smile too.
Winter blues. I keep telling myself that spring gets closer the longer winter lasts. Whenever the sun is shining, I try to get out even if it is cold. I have noticed the days getting a bit longer–that always cheers me up.
