Okay, what is you say when your brother has you pinned on the ground with your fingers bent backwards… that is where Old Man Winter has me… SO, MERCY!

Okay, I was officially over winter right around the time Country Home decided to cease publication.  Now, out of work and a bit lost in my direction, I am very, very over the white stuff.  The new website will be out in just a few days, but until then I thought I could share some inspiring photos from my archieves.

Violets from my yard last May have the most abundant color and really bring me abundant joy.  I can’t wait to see them this coming season and gathering the leaves to press.

Okay, my collections always make me feel better.  Here a laundry basket is ready to go back to the store room in the pink section.  I like all the styles and variaties of glass just layered upon each other… my team cringes and exclaims,  where is the “bubble wrap?”

BROWN TRANSFER…

you bet, its a standby for me and I like it served up simply with mismatched patterns and styles with graphic pattern on pattern sensibility.  Don’t buy it, though.  Save it for me when I get back to shopping.

What gets you over the winter blues?  Let me know?

Always, always thrifting…Spring Cleaning…letting some of the darkness of the winter go and getting sunshine and light into the house again.

You are so amazing, you will get re-grouped soon and we will all be there right behind you!

    sorry!
I am over the snow too, I love the winter and snow but this year I have had enough…8″ here in NJ…
so whatever happened with a fabric line, are you still working on it?

I always cling to the promise of my annual girl’s spring shopping trip to Bangor! No cooking, cleaning, schlepping kids here and there. My mum, sister and sisters-in-law all go and we laugh, talk, eat, drink a little bubbly, and reconnect. After being on a spending freeze following Christmas, it feels good to actually buy a few of the things that make my heart sing.

Now is the time I also start putting all of the wintery decorative things in my home. I also make my house sparse on the outside in preparation for a new, spring doormat, flag, and wreath for the door.

Spring is coming…I can feel it!

Matthew, I hear you about winter! I’m from Minnesota and right about now I’m really sick of it and need to go somewhere warm! I love your brown transferware. I’m really starting to get into it and have started picking up a few pieces. Am also excited to see your new website! Here’s wishing you all the best in the future!

O.K. - a Pink Section in the Storeroom — love it!!
We have an entire room we have yet to open/restore above the summer kitchen in our 150 year old house. I envision it as my storeroom with my things arranged by color or season on open shelving. I will just grab a basket when the decorating urge strikes and “shop” my own little store.
Now I am inspired to open the door on that room and get going!

I’m with you Matthew. It’s snowing here today. I just want to get outside and scratch around in the dirt. I’m giving the house a good Spring cleaning, because I know when the gardening starts, cleaning goes out the window. You need to start a cyber magazine. Hope you find someplace soon, I always enjoyed your creative ideas (and have used many). Best of luck!

I just saw this. OMG! Country Home no more?! Say it isn’t so! That was hands down my favorite Christmas issue - ALWAYS! Okay, the economy has officially hit rock bottom. It’s a good thing I save my old magazines. Matthew, I always check the masthead for your name and immediately flip to your work. My sister and I have been huge fans of yours since waaaay back when. Shall we just say I used to see you at craft fairs and my jaw used to drop at your floral arrangements in a shop in Contoocook. One time I saw you at Michaels and almost fainted. I quickly called my sister to say “You’ll never guess who I saw! He was buying such and such . . .. I wonder what he’s going to make!!” OMG, I think I’m a groupie! And now I think I’m out of the closet with it! Note to self: 2009 - get your own life!

Your talents have always blown everyone out of the water. It has been so much fun to follow your career. I know these are uncertain times but I think this will only take you to your next level. My sister and I will be watching and waiting to see what you will do next.

You have such good color sense and a fabulous eye for arrangements. I can’t imagine being married to someone who pulls together the above collections to photograph as a pick me up! How fun is that! I also love your entertaining book and ideas. You and your wife are very lucky, kindred spirits indeed!

Well, I don’t even want to go there with the snow. I think I’m “Carolina Dreaming” and just hoping my driveway doesn’t wash away in the heavy rains that have followed. Let’s give it up for purple pansies, shall we?!

All the best to you. Can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you.
